Napa Valley 10 Perfect Things to Do
Napa Valley, located north of San Francisco, is one of North America’s most famous (and awarded) wine areas. With so many of the top things to do in Napa Valley, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Now, to help you make the most of your visit, I’d like to share some of our favourite spots in Napa Valley (and the surrounding area). This allows you to focus on the key wines, balloon flights, and rambles that make this region so special. Take a look at some of the top things to do in Napa Valley below.
1. Sattui Winery
We all know Napa Valley is famous for its excellent wines, right? For us, we recommend paying a visit to the Sattui Winery, which has a history reaching back to the 1800s. Visiting a well-established and historic vineyard that is accessible is one of the top things to do in Napa Valley. To make things easier, book this day tour from San Francisco to see some of the most beautiful vineyards in Napa Valley. You’ll visit three of the most prominent wine estates and even get to walk among the vineyards.
2.Yountville
Do you enjoy a fantastic gastronomic experience while on vacation? Then head down to Yountville in Napa Valley. If you want to spend a day away from the vineyards, this is one of the greatest things to do in Napa Valley. You must start your day with a wonderful breakfast at Bouchon Bakery. The handcrafted pastries are delicious, so get them before they’re gone. If you miss them, go across the street to Mini Model. They have some wonderful English muffins that are delicious. Finally, make a reservation at The French Laundry. It’s one of Thomas Keller’s delicious Napa Valley fine-dining establishments. If you choose the chef’s tasting menu, you’ll be in for a treat.
3.Napa Valley Wine Train
We adore a good train ride… especially if there are award-winning wines involved! The experience is very unique and well worth the price of admission. Make sure you plan ahead of time before visiting Napa Valley. Spaces are limited, and this event is likely to be popular. Many meals and award-winning Napa Valley wines are you ride the historic train. The journey is approximately 30 miles long and begins and ends in St. Helena. It’s a great opportunity to view the surrounding countryside.
4. Napa Valley Museum
I know I highlighted Yountville, but I had to make a special mention of the Napa Valley Museum. It’s a unique destination to visit in the region, and it’s one of the greatest things to do in Napa Valley if you want to learn more about historical treasures. You see, this area isn’t about wines and although modest, it’s a nice way to break up the day if you’re getting a bit ‘vineyard fatigue’. Inside, you’ll find historical items, pictures, and paintings from the surrounding area. It’s a terrific place to spend 45 minutes.
5. Skyline Wilderness Park
The Skyline Wilderness Park, located in the gorgeous slopes of Napa Valley, is an stunning destination to explore while road tripping through the area. In fact, it’s on the outskirts of Napa. If you’re looking for anything other than wine, the Skyline Wilderness Park is ideal for picnics, camping, and hiking trails. The Buckeye Trail was fantastic. With 800+ acres to explore, you could spend an afternoon strolling here. You might even see wild turkeys, geese, or deer. So keep a look out for updates!
6. Oxbow Public Market
If you’re anything like me, you’ll enjoy Oxbow Public Market. It’s one of the nicest things to do in Napa Valley, particularly if you’re staying in Napa. Once here, you’ll be able to sample some of the best farms and local cuisine that make this region so unique. Of course, there are fresh vegetables and bread, but what makes Oxbow Public Market so unique are the other delicious dining options. After that, make a reservation for a hot air balloon flight above Napa Valley at Twilight. After all, everything is weather dependent.
7. Napa Art Walk
Have you finished all the wine? You couldn’t! Ha! Aside from that, if you want to spend some time away from the grape variety, go to the Napa Art Walk. The first Napa Art Walk show began in 2009, and it has since become a biennial event that is a fantastic opportunity to explore the city. Also, you can listen to the Napa Art Walk audio tour, which was recorded by the artists themselves.
8. Safari West
Safari West is currently home to over a thousand animals, many of which remain overnight. If you’re travelling with young children, it’s definitely worth a look. After all, children can only be so interested in vineyards! After that, make a stop at Ledson Winery on your way through Napa Valley and the surrounding region. The estate is near Santa Rosa and is one of the best things to do in Napa Valley because it is close to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.
9.Palmaz Vineyards
Palmaz Vineyards is a wonderful Napa Valley winery. Not only that, but they serve some delicious Cabernet Sauvignon, making it well worth a visit while in the valley. It’s a rather huge but cosy winery with over 50 acres of land that offers some nice wines to drink on your way around Napa Valley’s best attractions. Palmaz Vineyards also boasts a cool (and functional) subterranean wine cave. The spectacular underground dome is utilised for fermentation and the Pamaz-exclusive wine-making technique. It’s fantastic! Don’t forget about the Shadybrook Estate Winery, which is down the road. You can combine both (or more) in a single visit.
10.Castello di Amorosa
Castello di Amorosa has to be one of my favourites Napa Valley wineries. With its castle, you may be for believing you’ve arrived in the Tuscany rolling hills. It’s a fantastic way to travel, and the wine trips are out of this world. The history of the castle and the Winder Vineyards is incredible. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s one of the top Napa Valley vineyards to visit that you shouldn’t miss. It’s one of the best things to do in Napa Valley to see some of the world’s largest petrified redwood trees, and it’s open every day. The trees fossilised over millions of years and now resemble rocks.
