Results and highlights of Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

An additional past world champion has been defeated by Jake Paul. In their cruiserweight bout on Saturday Paul decisively defeated former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via unanimous decision.

Chavez was completely devoid of interest in engaging in the early rounds which consequently placed Paul far ahead in the scorecards through his body work and jab. Because he was so lethargic, Chavez was unable to land a single punch in the opening round.

Round after round, the fight followed a pretty similar pattern, with Paul emerging from the corner with aggression, establishing a strong jab, moving to the body, and occasionally landing power blows. While Paul was at work, Chavez did little more than whine about phantom fouls. For example, he would say that legal body shots were low or that he was struck in the back of the head by legal punches.

By the last two rounds, Chavez suddenly displayed some fire, and Paul seemed to be a little worn out. In Round 9, he was able to press Paul, land some solid power blows, and prevent Paul from maintaining his jabbing routine, which was the first obvious Chavez round.

However, after ten rounds of play, the official scorecards showed that Chavez’s late charge was too little, too late, as the scores were 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92.

Chavez received 61 of 154 punches, while Paul received 140 of 482. Notably, the last two rounds saw 40 of Chavez’s 61 landed blows.

Paul made fun of the jeering audience after the battle and then hinted that he would be prepared to compete for a world championship.

“All the jeers are gestures that communicate bigger than words,” Paul added. “I am him. I am him. I just gave your child a bad beating. Simple work…. Tougher fighters are what I desire. I want to take home the world title. The WBO and WBA champion, Gilberto Ramirez, appeared lethargic tonight. WBC champion, Badou Jack. Don’t run, Tommy [Fury].

After defeating Chavez, Paul is anticipated to be ranked by the WBA, and according to some rumors, the WBC will also rank him. This will remove one obstacle for someone looking to capitalize on Paul’s divisive popularity by slugging for a world title.

A title fight on the same card is one of the titles that Paul clearly wants to replace, as Gilberto Zurdo Ramirez, one of his title rivals defended his two cruiserweight titles in the co-main event against Yuniel Dorticos. Dorticos put in a gallant effort and gave the Mexican all he could get but Ramirez battled through a tough 12 rounds to defend his WBA and WBO in the 200-pound division. The 34-year-old Ramirez was defeated in 2022 by decision of Dmitry Bivol to win the WBA light heavyweight title, the only setback in his professional career. Ramirez could also target Badou Jack or Jai Opetaia to unify other belts. He might also try to obtain a huge payoff against Paul.

Its official result was a unanimous one (99-91, 97-93, 98-92) where Jake Paul beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

By the time Chavez got in the ring in the twelfth round there was little drama based upon the fact that Paul won most of the rounds except the two staying where the audience was waiting for the scorecards to be read. Paul will leave knowing that he has to improve his cardio in future since he looked tired in the dying seconds which contributed to the late surge of Chavez.

Round 10 Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Jake Paul — 10-9 Paul (99-91)

Chavez was in need of a knockout so his corner told him to put everything he had into it. Chavez took many of Paul’s blows before landing a right hand. Paul was hit by two jabs. Paul tied up after landing a left hook. Paul countered with a left of his own after Chavez delivered a solid left hook. Paul landed an uppercut and a body punch. Chavez landed a good jab and tried to run down the ropes. Chavez delivered a nice jab after a glance at his right hand. Paul poked and hit his flesh with his left hand. Chavez made a late charge and made a half left hand landing. That’s probably another Paul. Who gets the cards is obvious.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Jake Paul, Round 9 — 10-9 Paul Chavez (89–82)

Paul moved and boxed as instructed by his corner. The referee stopped the fight and clarified that the punches were legal when Chavez attempted to protest low blows for legal shots once more. Paul tied Chavez up so he could return to range after he unleashed a chopping right hand. Paul was a little worn out, but Chavez did some fantastic work on the physique. Jake then delivered a string of jabs. At the conclusion of a flurry, Chavez delivered a powerful elbow. As Paul attempted to retaliate, Chavez landed a left hand. Following the round, Chavez rejoiced.
