Bryant Park


Bryant Park is a public park in the New York City borough of Manhattan, located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues from 40th to 42nd Streets. It was named for William Cullen Bryant, a resident of the area who had developed it from an abandoned reservoir into a model source of clean drinking water for New York City. Bryant Park is one of the largest parks in Manhattan, measuring in area.


The park includes a great lawn surrounded by flowering trees and shrubs; four fountains; two restaurants (an outdoor cafe and an indoor restaurant), as well as food kiosks that sell drinks and snacks; three sculptures: “Cloud Gate” by Anish Kapoor (2005), “Bust of Philip Johnson” by Robert Indiana (1982), “Elijah Muhammad Memorial Fountain”; an ice rink during winter months; several playgrounds; numerous sculptures scattered throughout including “The Four Seasons” by Alexander Calder (1955) which sits atop one of its office buildings with views overlooking Bryant Park below.

The avenue is most famous for its luxury department stores and boutiques, along with its many restaurants and cafes. Grand Central Terminal


Grand Central Terminal is an architectural marvel. The terminal has been in use since 1913, and its construction was completed by the firm Reed and Stem, who also designed New York’s Pennsylvania Station. The design includes many elements that make it unique among other train stations in the country. For example, you can see the famous stained-glass ceiling from one end of Grand Central to another; this incredible feat of architecture requires more than 40 miles of glass!


The station was designed with several purposeful features: for example, there are no clocks visible inside this grand building so as not to distract people from their time on board trains or waiting for them; also hidden from view are various heating vents that ensure passengers can remain comfortable regardless of outside weather conditions.
