What makes Kashmir great lake treks , the Greatest!

Introduction:

The Kashmir Great Lakes journey, also known as the KGL walk, has grown in popularity and is currently the most sought-after monsoon trek in the Indian Himalayas. During this 7-day, 65-kilometre trip, Kashmir — “the paradise on Earth” – actually unfolds. This voyage is made intriguing by several high elevation lakes, alpine meadows covered with small wildflowers, and gorgeous campsites. As a result, the KGL route is known as the Best from Kashmir, or Jannat E Kashmir, or a slice of heaven on Earth.

Schedule you can go Kashmir by:

Day 1: Drive 85 kilometres (3 hours) from Srinagar towards Sitkari (Trek base 2 kilometres before Sonamarg). Camp.

Day 2: Hike to Nichnai (11 km, 7/8 hours). Camp.

Day 3: Vishansar Lake (12 km, 6/7 hours) Camp.

Day 4: Recuperation and active acclimatisation Day. 2 hour hike towards Vishansar Lake and back. Camp.

Day 5: Hike to Gadsar (near the army camp) – 14 km – 7/8 hour.  Camp.

Day 6: Trekking to Mengendhop through Satsar (10 km, 5-6 hours). Camp.

Day 7: Trek to Nundkol lake – 8 km – 5-6 hours – see Gangabal lake and return – 2 hours Camp.

Day 8: Trekking to Naranag – 11 km, 5/6 hours – 60 km, 2/3 hours driving to Srinagar

Day 9: This is a mandatory reserve day.

 Himalayan trek

KGL is a moderately difficult Himalayan trek. It’s also exhausting to walk big distances every day. At the same time, after you get to Gangabal Twin Lakes Camp, you will have a rest day. This is a great opportunity for rest and relaxation before your lengthy journey to Naranag. As a result, we score it 6.5/10 on a physicality scale.

The rather long 65-kilometre track features several highs and lows too though Water bodies/lakes are situated at the foot of the mountains, and you will normally traverse a pass or before descending to the next valley and lake, such as Gadsar or Satsar.

Climb a mountain route ( visit Kashmir )

When you climb a mountain route, you must finally descend. Almost majority of the altitude reduction in the KGL trip occurs on the final day of the journey, i.e. your descent down just on hike occurs on the final day of trek. It is worth noting that more than 1000 m/3300 ft of fall occurred in an 11-kilometre period. Employ sticks and knee caps, especially if you have or believe you have a knee problem or injury. Kashmir hikes, like the KGL trek, are best achieved between July and September. In Kashmir, there are no mythical summer monsoons. Due to western disturbances, this region receives the most rainfall throughout the winter.

Winter starts as soon as the latter part of June, when snowfall is at its lowest. Even though here is no summer, rain showers do occur in July and August. In the summer and monsoon, midday rains are typical on the mountains. Valleys bloom greener with brilliant wildflowers as a result of rain and warmer temperatures.

Autumn arrives in September. Rainfall is little throughout this period of the year. As we progress, the fields turn yellow to golden. After the grazing season, herders and Bakkarwals returned to their home base with their animals.

It’s very uncommon to encounter such grandeur and adventure in a single journey. The Kashmir Great Lake Hike is likewise out of the ordinary. The 8-day, 8-night trip traverses four passes in a single day and night. This may seem unusual, yet it is true. The entire walk is brimming with attractive and distinct perspectives. It signifies that the views are free of all impediments. At such altitude, there are no human settlements, forest ranges, or other obstacles that may obstruct your view.

One thing to remember about KGL is that it is always about the trip rather than the goal. Walk across 6 distinct flower-filled meadows and 7 beautiful pure Kashmir great lakes. In terms of attractiveness, they are competing with one another.

The track climbs to an elevation of 4,206 metres and changes among climbs and downhills on most days, making it reasonably straightforward to traverse. The only obstacle is developing the stamina required to travel the enormous distances (10 kilometres or more) required each day.

The 69-kilometre journey is a fantastic alternative for novices wishing to boost their Himalayan trekking game. We suggest this path to experienced hikers as well, not because of the difficulty, but because of the simple brilliance and grandeur it contains.

The Kashmir Lake Erie trip is best done between July and September. Discover an elevation chart, a temperature chart, a complete schedule, a route map, and a photo of the KGL journey. To read blogs about the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, go to the bottom of the page.
